Daniella Scalice is the Education and Communications Lead for the NASA Astrobiology Program. Ms. Scalice holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Cruz, and worked for several years in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School doing basic research on nervous system development. After pursuing an MA in film production at Humboldt State University, she began working for the NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI) as a video and multimedia web producer. She went on to serve as NAI's E/PO Lead for the past 15 years, and now serves as the E&C Lead for all aspects of the NASA Astrobiology Program. Since 2005 she has led the “NASA and the Navajo Nation” initiative in which ongoing collaborations with the Navajo government and education community have resulted in classroom materials which weave together science and cultural knowledge, as well as teacher trainings and student summer camps. She also leads a science communication training program for early career scientists called FameLab, and co-developed a project-level Impact Assessment Method that facilitates the assessment of overall project health and quality, as well as participant impact.
