daniella scalice

Daniella Scalice is the lead for Education, Outreach, and Communications for the NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI) at NASA Ames Research Center.  Ms. Scalice holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Cruz, and worked for several years in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School doing basic research on nervous system development. After pursuing an MA in film production at Humboldt State University, she began working for the NAI as a video and multimedia web producer, and has been serving as the E/PO Lead there for the past eleven years. Ms. Scalice manages all aspects of E/PO for the NAI, including management of an E/PO working group that spans the country. She is also responsible for NAI’s strategic communications, including web content for the public and national press releases. Since 2005 she has led the “NASA and the Navajo Nation” initiative in which ongoing collaborations with the Navajo government and education community have resulted in classroom materials which weave together science and cultural knowledge, as well as teacher trainings and other events. Most recently, she is developing and testing a project-level assessment protocol which covers overall project health and quality, as well as participant impact.
