What is the design of the evaluation process for your program element / activity?:
Families with children ages 10 to 13 years old were recruited to participate in the formative evaluation of the DIY Sun Science app by testing the app at home and later completing a survey
and participating in a focus group at the Hall. Groups were recruited via an email request on the Berkeley Parents Network listserve.

Four families participated in the evaluation. Children in these families were ages 10, 11, 12, and 13 and included 2 girls and 2 boys. Four parents (2 men and 2 women) participated in the testing and focus group as well.

Participants were asked to provide general feedback on the user interface and the app as a whole, as well as each section of the app (Activities, Solar Observatory, Images and Videos).
