Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products (EQuIP) Rubric
SMD Earth Forum Webinars: March 4, 18, April 1, 15 from 1 -2 pm ET
By Dr. Hilarie B. Davis, and Dr. Bradford T. Davey
The NGSS EQuIP Rubric Webinars for the SMD EPO community offers an opportunity to learn how to use the rubric. Participants will review lessons ahead of time, then share ratings in the webinar and discuss their rationales for ratings and suggestions for improvement. This series of four webinars will each stand alone, and provide practice using the rubric.
The format of the webinars will be analysis of lessons and discussion as a way to learn how to use the rubric to analyze existing lessons. The example lessons for each webinar will be made available ahead of time for participants to review and begin to rate on their own on the NGSS EQuiP rubric template. During the webinar, participants will share their ratings (in a poll), then discuss the evidence they found for their ratings, and suggestions for improvement. The analyses for each lesson will be shared after the webinar.
Session 2 (March 18) Examines several lessons with a focus on the criteria in the second column of the rubric on Instructional Supports such as supporting learning through meaningful scenarios, supporting practices, phenomena, and representations, and providing guidance for teachers in building coherence.
