This post announces the release of 1) a draft interagency report entitled, “Federal Strategy to Advance an Integrated U.S. Greenhouse Gas Monitoring and Information System” (GHGMIS Strategy) and 2) an associated GHGMIS Strategy Request for Information (RFI) on the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES). These documents may be located using the direct link above.

Both documents have been published on behalf of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Greenhouse Gas Monitoring and Measurement Interagency Working Group (GHG IWG). The GHGMIS Strategy document outlines a framework for an integrated U.S. GHG monitoring & information system, near-term strategies to advance the system, and demonstration projects that have been proposed by the GHG IWG.

NASA Headquarters’ Science Mission Directorate (SMD) is managing the RFI that requests public comment broadly from individuals, U.S. industry, universities, non-profit organizations, Federal Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), NASA centers and other U.S. federal, state, local, tribal government agencies. Responses also are sought from the international community.

Questions concerning this RFI will be accepted via email only addressed to the listed point of contact and that use  “GHGMIS RFI Question/Clarification” in the subject line. Depending on the nature of the question(s), NASA may respond on an individual basis by email or may post questions and answers (Q&A) of broad interest or general clarification on the RFI’s NSPIRES landing page. Posted Q&As (if any) will be edited to preserve the submitter’s anonymity. The following email address is not to be used for RFI response submissions; any RFI submissions made via email will not be acknowledged or considered.
