The GLOBE Mission EARTH program is pleased to continue connecting students and Subject Matter Experts through distance learning.  Makalya Connelly, a senior from Skyline High School in Oakland, CA , interviewed  Brian Peterson, co-founder of “Bees in the D”, a GLOBE collaborating organization and non-profit whose mission is to educate about the importance of honey bees, native pollinator conservation, and urban beekeeping. Makalya spoke to Brian about her senior research project - What are the biggest threats facing captive and native bee populations in California and what can be done about them? Her interview questions included topics such as changes in bee populations over the years due to: climate change, agricultural practices, timing of seasonal flowers blooms, and bacterial infestations.
