The 2020 Community Cloud Challenge: Science is Better Together (July 15 - August 15, 2020), led by the NASA GLOBE Clouds team at NASA Langley, asked participants around the world to learn, discover and, when safe, collect GLOBE cloud observations.  This year, participants could join a video watch, do an at-home activity, or collect observations to participate due to COVID-19 (https://observer.globe.gov/cloud-challenge-2020).

Weekly videos with NASA experts and GLOBE educators featured different cloud topics and easy at-home activities. A total of  NASA subject matter experts shared their stories and their work related to clouds. Six GLOBE educators that range from classroom teachers to camp counselors shared step-by-step how to do these at-home activities. These videos premiered on the NASA Earth Facebook account every Thursday during the challenge (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfpnkASII_NaHsWON6HuTw4RvlTLX5wKO). Participants used social media to share how they chose to participate in this challenge. With our #CloudChallenge products and efforts on all social media platforms, the event reached over: 4.7 million people. Over 26,000 cloud observations from 80 countries were received, double what was reported July-August of 2019.

The videos produced for the event are evergreen and have been adapted to create the Family Cloud Challenge and Science of Clouds Video Series https://www.globe.gov/web/s-cool/home/family-cloud-resources/family-cloud-challenge.
