In collaboration with the National Park Service and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Earth to Sky held a two-day pre-conference workshop as a component of the annual conference of the National Association for Interpretation, November 11-12, 2019 in Denver, Colorado.
Eighteen informal educators from around the country who work for federal, state and local agencies, universities, and NGOs attended the workshop, which featured NASA and NCAR science and resources and included a trip to the NCAR Mesa Lab in Boulder, CO.
NPS Climate Change Response Program interpreter Matt Holly and Earth to Sky team members conveyed climate communication techniques.
NCAR staff shared examples of climate communication programs and exhibits.
Each participant developed and presented a draft plan of an interpretive product incorporating NASA and other workshop content. An archive of workshop materials will be posted to the Professional Development section of Earth to Sky website https://earthtosky.org.
A follow up webinar with participants is planned for early 2020.
