The Trees Around the GLOBE Campaign commenced on September 15, 2018 in conjunction with NASA's ICESat-2 satellite launch on the same date at 6:02am PDT. The campaign focuses on students taking tree height measurements around the globe, with complementary measurements of land cover classification, green up/green down, and the carbon cycle to help build a robust data set for research. Once the ICESat-2 satellite data for tree height is available, students will be able to compare their tree height data to that of the satellite. The student data can also serve as validation data for the satellite.
