The Office of Education (Code 160) at the Goddard Institute of Space Studies is seeking an intern to provide administrative and programmatic support for new and current education projects and events for NASA Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education opportunities.
As a Pathways Intern you will work under the guidance of an experienced professional in progressively responsible duties.
You will assist a senior Education Specialist with the following:
- provide administrative and programmatic support for new and current education projects, events, data calls, grants management, and reporting requirements with regard to NASA STEM education opportunities.
- provide support in coordinating, consolidating and reporting GSFC and NASA HQ education strategies, performance, assessment and data management requirements across internal and external STEM stakeholders.
- support and assist with administrative tasks such as coordinating calendar of activities, due dates, scheduling regular telecomms/meetings/virtual activities, etc. with grants principal investigators or university contacts
Occasional travel - Travel may be required for training or other work-related duties

- You must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.9 on a 4.0 scale.

Starting GS grade levels are determined by education level:
GS-7: Completion of 4 academic years of study (or all the requirements) for a bachelor's degree and accepted into a master's program. GS-7 starting salary: $22.70 per hour
GS-9: Completion of 1 academic year of master's level education or acceptance into a Doctoral program. GS-9 starting salary: $27.77 per hour

1. Maintain at least a half-time course load as defined by your educational institution
2. Maintain a GPA of 2.9 or above on a 4.0 scale;
3. Adhere to an established work schedule;
4. Participate in Agency training classes or programs;
5. Successfully perform your assigned duties; and
6. Observe all workplace rules.
You will serve a trial period for the duration of the Intern appointment.
You will be considered for the highest grade for which you qualify.
This appointment DOES NOT confer eligibility for promotion, noncompetitive conversion to a term or permanent appointment, or continued employment at NASA.
This appointment may be extended.
You must have at least one year remaining in your studies before completing your degree requirements. (NOTE: One year must include consecutive Spring and Fall semesters). The expected completion date that you enter in the NASA Supplemental Questionnaire will be used in making this determination, and applicants who indicate a date prior to December 2019 will be found ineligible.
You will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
