On a chilly Friday in February, 28 teachers and two GLOBE researchers with the Arctic and Earth SIGNs project gathered in Tok, Alaska.

Drs. Elena Sparrow and Katie Spellman (University of Alaska Fairbanks) ran a workshop for teachers of the Alaska Gateway School District to learn how to use GLOBE protocols and NASA resources to study climate change in their schools and Alaska Native communities


Our two-pronged approach begins with developing and hosting collaborative webinar events that highlight multidisciplinary work of NASA scientists and engineers. Content from webinars' archives are then parsed into categories that align with the Next Generation Science Standards' "Science & Engineering Practices." We would love to work with other SMD missions to develop new resources using this successful model!


Concept maps for heliophysics literacy developed by the NASA SMD Heliophysics Science Education and Public Outreach Forum (with extensive assistance by the Heliophysics Education and Public Outreach community) are now available on the workspace, including to the public.
