Bio

Sanlyn Buxner is an education specialist and research scientist at the Planetary Science Institute where she works on NASA outreach programs including teacher professional development programs, museum education and outreach programs, and experiential field programs for teens and teachers. She is a member of the CosmoQuest team and is the external evaluator for LPI's education and communication team. She is also works as a part-time assistant research professor at the University of Arizona where she does education research on undergraduate students' science literacy, quantitative literacy and the impact that industry experiences have for teachers' use of 21st Century skills. She works closely with several Arizona state-wide inititiatives including the Arizona Science Teachers' Association and Teachers in Industry on helping teachers develop 21st century skills, understand the science and engineering practices of the Framework for K-12 Education and the Next Generation Science Standards, and gathering evidence about improving their own practice.
