NASA SMD Astrophysics E/PO Resources: A Sampler and Quick Start Guide

This is a quick start guide and a "sampler" of the variety of Astrophysics education and public outreach (E/PO) resources created by the NASA Science Mission Directorate funded E/PO teams.

The Sampler provides not only examples of the NASA Astrophysics E/PO resources, but also ways that the resource could be used, and how/where to obtain the resource.

Splinter Meeting, "Connecting Scientists with NASA SMD Astrophysics E/PO"

NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Astrophysics E/PO teams and SMD E/PO program officers hosted a “splinter session” at the Austin AAS meeting to engage attendees in SMD E/PO.

Nearly 40 astronomers and educators learned about NASA Astrophysics E/PO resources, SMD E/PO funding opportunities, and specific possibilities to collaborate with NASA Astrophysics mission/program/grant-funded E/PO activities.

The NASA Astro E/PO community is collaborating to present a splinter session titled "Connecting Scientists with NASA Astrophysics E/PO" at the 2012 American Astronomical Society winter meeting in Austin, TX.

When: Thursday January 12, 9:30AM to 11:00AM
Where: Austin Convention Center, Room 19B

The scientists who come to our session will:
Meet and mingle with NASA E/PO program officers and Astrophysics E/PO teams.
Explore and collect NASA Astrophysics resources they could use for education/outreach to various audiences.
