Nuggets submitted by the NASA SMD science education community can be found here. Every week, SMD selects one nugget from the community to send to the White House. To submit a nugget:
1) Create your nugget using the template provided in the link below.
2) Use the following template for naming your file: DATE SUBMITTED_PI LAST NAME_SMD DIVISION (Astro, Earth, Helio, Planetary, or CrossDivision)
3) Email your completed nugget file and one high resolution image file used in the nugget to Maria Washington.
4) Post your nugget to the workspace (Create+ --> Nugget), making it public, and tagging your group, the SciAct Collective, and the Community Page.
July 17-19, 2017, educators and staff from the NASA eClips™ team facilitated learning for seven local high school students using the engineering design process to produce Spotlite videos. On July 11-12, 2017, the NASA eClips team facilitated outreach at four branches of Hampton City Public Libraries. Hands-on activities focusing on the upcoming total solar eclipse were facilitated with over 350 students. A Hampton University intern, and students from local high school honor societies and the Virginia Governor's School summer program volunteered during the events. July 26, 2017, STEM Education Specialist Joan Harper-Neely from the NASA eClips™ team led fourteen Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers attending the Virginia Technology and Engineering Education Association (VTEEA) summer conference in using the engineering design process to produce NASA Spotlite videos. Teacher production teams spent several hours learning to implement the design challenge, designed with NASA content, into the CTE curriculum.Download
