Information About the Impact of the Administration’s FY14 Budget and Proposed Changes to STEM Education

The President's proposed FY'14 budget includes major changes and restructuring of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) Education and Public Outreach (E/PO) at NASA and other federal agencies. These proposed changes will have a significant impact on STEM education at NASA and the Science Mission Directorate (SMD).

In the President's proposed budget for FY14 and going forward:

  • SMD education and outreach funds are eliminated.
  • Individual science mission budgets are reduced, reflecting the elimination of education and outreach funds.
  • SMD is directed to not fund education.
